All so random...

Celebrating Malaysia’s 53rd Independence Day

As the nation celebrated it’s 53rd independence day on the 31st August 2010, there was much celebration but not going overboard as to respect the Muslim holy month of fasting, Ramadhan.

With much anticipation on the eve of independence day for fireworks around the vicinity of KLCC and Twin Towers, I set myself up at a private look out point but it proved futile, as when the clock strikes 12 midnight, nope there was no fireworks in sight.

As such, with camera in hand, tripod and notebook, i resolved to taking night shots and could only wish if there was fireworks.

Perhaps, 16th September, which is our Malaysia Day or else New Year…..

So how did I took this shot?

This was shot with a Canon 5D MKII, 24-105mm @ 24mm, F6.3, 10 sec exposure. All required was a solid tripod and tethered to my notebook.

Till then… enjoy!

Starbucks, First Drive Thru Outlet

Few days ago, I checked out this new Starbucks outlet in Setia Alam, Shah Alam. Just along side, Jalan Meru, Klang, which is the old trunk road connecting Meru Town and Klang Town among others. Anyway, this purpose build building, it is the first drive thru outlet for Starbucks.

Just imagine, early in the morning on the way to work, you decided to grab a cup of Caramel Macchiato, easy, drive along Starbucks, place your order at the counter and grab you drink and off you go. Amazing! No more, queuing up and waiting and waiting…easy eh.

Indeed, I am impress with the design of the building, it reminds me of Australia where your friendly neighborhood store is located.

Another feature which caught my attention was the counter top, it says, it is made of Railway Slippers! How amazing!

So anyway, to keep it real short, do drop by this Starbucks if you are in the area and in need of a coffee fix!

A short visit to Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor..

Recently, I finally managed visit to the sleepy town of Sekinchan and Kuala Selangor in the state of Selangor. It was a beautiful morning with clear blue skies, kind of rare in Selangor.

Sekinchan is famous for it’s paddy field and seafood as it is so close to the sea. However, during this period, the paddy has been harvested, hence, nothing much to see until August. So we did a short walk around for a better perspective of this sleepy town. Later in the day,  we moved on to Kuala Selangor to visit the Lighthouse at Bukit Malawati, the famous Silver Leaf Monkeys and of cause for food as well. All in all, it was real fun with the sightseeing and food or better known as makan sessions!

Surely, I would like to come back for another visit but it has to be during the Paddy harvesting season and a visit to Kampung Kuantan for the fireflies too!

Anyhow, do enjoy the photos and if you would like more information on Kuala Selangor, do visit here.

Erawan Classic Thai and Fusion

Last weekend, we visited this unique and authentic Thai restaurant in the up and coming Kota Damansara area. Basically, this is the place for quality food, tasty and value for money. Do remember, when I say value for money, it doesn’t necessary mean it is cheap.. hehehe :D

The ambience is really welcoming, with water sound, courtesy of the mini water feature and of cause, the aromatic essence which was burning enhances the experience all together. They do have a small section where they sell, miscellaneous items from Thailand, that’s a nice touch!

Food wise, you will be surprise, as they do have a spicy scale for their Tom Yam, I tried Level 1, well, it’s fiery enough! There are some dishes that requires advance booking, so the Thai chef could really prepare it for you. Do check with them! Well enough of my typing… let the picture speak for themselves instead!

Well, the magic question, how do I get there? Follow this link to Erawan’s official blog –> Erawan

Really good deals????

Ever wondered, how we can stretch our money more???? Ok, besides the usual… methods, today, I would like to recommend a new method of saving money, flexing your money and of course, buy more! Introducing togethergether.com, so what’s that all about?

Clearly, from the URL, it means, together, more than one and we shall save more. Basically, this website offers FANTASTIC deals if we buy in bulk. Wait a minute! that doesn’t mean, everyone of us needs to buy BULK, neh, not like Tesco style ya, it’s more of, there is a minimum quantity that needs to be met before the deal starts and it doesn’t matter if an individual just buy 1 unit, 2 units, or 3 units, as long as collectively the minimum quantity required is met. Well, there’s millions of Internet users and to achieve the minimum number is a piece of cake. Really!

Ok ok, so that’s the concept. Payment wise, it’s a real walk in the park, clearly the business owners has taken a simple effective approach to help us to make the purchase, no complicated forms to fill, no hidden cost, no false advertising and best of all, we save money! Most importantly!

However, currently, togerthergether.com are offering this deals to Klang Valley, Malaysia. Sorry folks, maybe in the future, there will be a deal near you! :D

Restaurant Good Evening Bangkok

When it comes to Thai food, Good Evening Bangkok does a good job in giving me a quick fix. Well, as usual the Green curry is fantastic and Kangkung Belacan is wonderful as well. The ambience of the restaurant really do set us back to Thailand, however, this gives a more contemporary feel. Anyway, price wise, it is slightly above average, a simple meal for two, with 4 dishes could cost anywhere between RM80-RM100.

My final thoughts, certainly I will come back for more Thai food and the best part is that, Good Evening Bangkok has many branches. The service is pretty quick and fair to say it is clean as well, only downside would be the price.

Till then, take care!

Restaurant Seoul Korea, Taman Desa

Recently, I visited this place to celebrate Mother’s Day and indeed this is one of the better Korean restaurant as compared to the ones in Hartamas. Anyhow, do remember because they are so popular, to book a room, we had to commit on a RM200 and above bill, else we will just end up like everyone else, where, they had to queue by the stairs of the restaurant for a table. Yeah, that’s the magnitude of this place.

This place is managed by Koreans, well, authentic I would say, however, do beware there will be some minor communication issues as the owner and staffs don’t really speak good English. That aside, this place is pretty affordable as we came in a group of 6 people and we ordered alot of food yet we could not even hit RM200! Just imagine, eat all you can and you still can’t reach RM200. Amazing!

On the other hand, the side dishes comes in a variety of 12 and they do give one serving of salad and steam egg on the house! Cool~

Well, for this place, Korean BBQ won’t go wrong.

Finally, how would I rate this place, I will give it a 7/10 because of it’s variety, price, cleanliness and quality of food. I could have given this place a higher rating, if the communication was better and they don’t require a minimum order/RM to booked a room.
